Personal creativity

One persons' trash is another ones' treasure.

This was such a fun project! I always say, I love functional art. To me, this is functional art at its best. I garbage picked this old side table. I painted the trim areas and used some of the photos I took of Andy Warhol's art from an exhibition I went to a couple years earlier. I used modge podge, with an added bonus of glitter, to glue on the imagery. I varnished all over. That's Beasley in the background. He loves it too.

My rogue art class cloud painting.

Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of fortune and prosperity. The word Lakshmi comes from a Sanskrit root meaning "goddess who leads to one's goal." I visited India and was very creatively inspired by the culture — the architecture, textiles, markets, geography and the people all left a lasting impression on me. Years later, I took a cloud painting art class and decided to paint red clouds instead of the typical blue clouds. I also went rogue in the class and turned it into a collage, complete with an image I found of Lakshmi and some 3-D flowers. I then added some battery-operted micro-dot lights, cut up mardi gras beads subing in for gold coins, and of course, glitter.

No budget = resourceful solutions.

Old style cupboards make great 'frames' for beautiful prints of photos and paintings of Frida Kahlo. Without a budget for new cupboards, I decided to print out multiple images of photos and paintings of Frida Kahlo to fit inside each of the cupboard doors. I absolutely love the result and now going into my kitchen is extra fun and joyful.

Again, no budget = resourceful solutions.

Inspired by no budget and  a painted floor I saw on pinterest, I painted my floors with floor and porch paint in my favourite colour red. Stenciled orange sunflowers on top, and threw on — you guessed it — glitter while the paint was still wet. Is it practical? No. Do I love it anyway? Hell yes!

Brixton. In memorium.

I lost my little dog Brixton far too soon. Poor little guy was only 6 and passed away unexpectedly from pancreatitis. I am so heartbroken. I did this painting of him to honour his little soul.
